I study and work with the dynamics of complex systems through participatory and digital art projects, academic research and private consulting to groups and organisations. My approach to all three areas is grounded in the principles of reflective practice and applied systems theory.
I trained professionally as an engineer at the University of Tasmania, before undertaking a PhD in social theory at the University of Melbourne. I also worked as a manager and consultant in public and private sector roles, most recently in the field of media and communications policy. As a consultant, I usually work in the health, education and community sectors. See my LinkedIn profile for more information about my consulting practice.
I have assisted in creating and managing arts infrastructure, including co-founding Melbourne’s Grey Area Inc artist-run studio and gallery space in 1995, co-founding Hobart’s FOYER Gallery, and as a board member of the Salamanca Theatre Company and the Hobart Fringe Festival.
More recently I have embarked on my own arts practice, co-directing a cross-disciplinary arts collaboration Unconscious Collective.
